David stuck his head into the dark
and tiny bedroom and held his breath. The sound of the shower hissed from behind the bathroom door, and the imperfect seal of the doorframe there let in thin bands of light as well as a fair amount of moisture, making the bedroom a bit humid.
Or maybe he was simply sweating.
But this was his one chance. She only ever took the necklace—the key—off when she was showering. And she would be leaving in the morning. Though if his plan worked, David hoped she wouldn’t be leaving at all.
